Luyện tập trắc nghiệm
1 / 33Read the following passage and answer the questions that follow.
Mass media has become such a powerful force in modern society that it shapes how we think, what we believe, and how we behave. From traditional newspapers and television to digital platforms and social media, mass media influences nearly every aspect of our lives.
The rise of social media has been so dramatic that it has transformed how people communicate and consume information. Platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram have billions of users who share news, opinions, and personal updates. Information spreads so quickly on social media that a story can reach millions of people within hours. However, this speed comes with risks - fake news and misinformation can go viral just as fast as accurate information.
Traditional media like newspapers and television still play important roles, though their influence has declined. Many people now get their news from online sources because digital media is so convenient that they can access it anytime, anywhere. Journalists report news as if they are providing objective facts, but media bias exists in both traditional and digital platforms. Some news outlets present information in such a way that it supports their political or commercial interests.
The challenge for modern citizens is developing media literacy - the ability to critically evaluate information. We should not believe everything we read or watch as though it were automatically true. Instead, we need to check multiple sources, verify facts, and think critically about what we consume. The media's influence is so strong that it can shape public opinion and even affect elections, so being an informed and critical consumer of media is more important than ever.
