11. Listening: A childhood memory
Pre-listening: What childhood memories do you have that involve your family?
Listen to a passage about a childhood memory and answer the questions.
Listening passage:
When I was about eight years old, my family spent a summer holiday at the beach. It was the first time I had ever seen the sea. I remember that I was standing at the edge of the water while the waves were touching my feet. My father was teaching me how to swim. My mother was sitting on the sand, watching us and smiling.
Suddenly, a big wave came and I fell into the water. I was scared, but my father was right there. He picked me up and said, 'Don't worry, I'm here.' After that, I was not afraid anymore. We spent the whole afternoon playing in the water.
That summer was the best of my childhood. I still remember the feeling of the warm sand, the sound of the waves, and my parents' laughter. I wish I could go back to that beautiful day.

My most memorable childhood experience was Tet holiday when I was seven. On New Year's Eve, my whole family was gathering in the living room. My mother was making banh chung, and my father was decorating the altar. My sister and I were playing outside with sparklers. When the clock struck midnight, everyone was cheering and wishing each other a happy new year. I felt so warm and happy surrounded by my family. I wish I could experience that Tet again.
