Expressing nostalgia (Thể hiện nỗi nhớ):
- I miss + N/V-ing — Tôi nhớ... (Ex: I miss my childhood.)
- Those were the days! — Thời đó thật tuyệt!
- I feel nostalgic when... — Tôi cảm thấy hoài niệm khi...
- It brings back memories. — Nó gợi lại ký ức.
- I wish I could go back to... — Tôi ước tôi có thể quay lại...
Describing past events (Mô tả sự kiện trong quá khứ):
- I remember + V-ing — Tôi nhớ đã... (Ex: I remember visiting Ha Long Bay.)
- Back then, ... — Hồi đó, ...
- In those days, ... — Trong những ngày đó, ...
- When I was young, ... — Khi tôi còn nhỏ, ...
22. Practice: Pair work
Situation 1: Talk about a happy memory from your childhood.
You: I remember spending summers at my grandparents' house. Those were the days!
Friend: I feel nostalgic when I think about my childhood too. Back then, everything seemed so simple.
Situation 2: Talk about a historical event you learned about.
You: When I was young, my grandfather told me stories about the war.
Friend: That must have been interesting. It's important to remember history.
Situation 3: Talk about something you miss from the past.
You: I miss writing letters by hand. Now everyone just sends emails.
Friend: I know what you mean. I wish we could go back to those simple times.

Work in pairs. Ask and answer about your favourite memories.
- What is your favourite memory from the past?
- When and where did it happen?
- Who was with you?
- Why is it special to you?
Example:
My favourite memory is my family trip to Da Lat when I was ten. We were walking around Xuan Huong Lake and taking photos. My dad was telling us stories about the city. I felt so happy and close to my family. I miss those days.
