22. Language for Film Reviews
Use Past Simple and Present Perfect:
- Past Simple: The film was released in 2023. I watched it last weekend.
- Present Perfect: I have never seen such beautiful animation. The director has created a masterpiece.
Use Although/Though and However:
- Although the plot was simple, the film was moving.
- The special effects were amazing. However, the story was weak.
- The acting was excellent though the film was too long.
Useful adjectives:
- Positive: gripping, moving, hilarious, stunning, brilliant, heartwarming, entertaining, memorable
- Negative: boring, disappointing, predictable, confusing, terrible, weak

Film Review: 'Inside Out' (2015)
Have you ever wondered what happens inside your head? 'Inside Out', directed by Pete Docter, is a creative animated film that answers this question in a brilliant way.
The film is about Riley, an 11-year-old girl, and the five emotions inside her mind: Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust. When Riley's family moves to a new city, Joy and Sadness get lost in her mind and must find their way back. The main characters are voiced by Amy Poehler (Joy) and Phyllis Smith (Sadness).
Although the film is an animation, it deals with deep emotions. The plot is both entertaining and educational. Although some scenes are sad, the film is overall heartwarming. The animation is stunning and the soundtrack is memorable. However, younger children might find some parts confusing.
I have watched this film three times and I always discover something new. I highly recommend 'Inside Out' to everyone. It is a must-see film for both children and adults. I give it a 9 out of 10!
