Traffic rules are very important for everyone who uses the road. They help keep pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers safe. Without traffic rules, there would be many more accidents on our streets. In every country, there are laws that all road users must follow.

First, traffic lights control the flow of vehicles and pedestrians at intersections. A red light means stop. All vehicles must wait behind the stop line. A green light means go, but drivers must still check for pedestrians crossing. A yellow light warns that the light is changing to red, so drivers should prepare to stop. Pedestrians should only cross the street when the pedestrian light is green or at a zebra crossing.

Second, speed limits are important for safety. In residential areas, the speed limit is usually lower because there are many people walking and children playing. In Vietnam, the speed limit in cities is often 40-50 km/h for cars and motorbikes. Driving too fast is dangerous because it gives drivers less time to react to unexpected situations.

Third, wearing a helmet is compulsory for motorbike riders in Vietnam. Helmets protect the head and can save lives in an accident. Since the helmet law was introduced in 2007, the number of traffic deaths has decreased significantly. Similarly, seatbelts in cars save lives, and all passengers must wear them.

Finally, road signs give important information to drivers and pedestrians. For example, a 'No Parking' sign means you cannot park your vehicle there. A 'Stop' sign means you must stop completely before continuing. Understanding road signs is essential for safe driving. Remember: safety starts with you. Always obey traffic rules and be careful on the road.
