Describing a School

Asking about a school:

  • What is your school like?
  • How many students are there?
  • What facilities does it have?
  • Where is the library / gym / canteen?

Describing a school:

  • My school is big / modern / small / old.
  • There is a library / playground / gym.
  • There are 20 classrooms.
  • It's located in the city centre / in a small town.

Prepositions for location:

  • in the library / in the city
  • on the first floor / on the wall
  • at school / at the school gate
  • next to / behind / in front of

Comparing Schools

Tom: What is your school like, Hoa?

Hoa: My school is quite big. It has a large playground and a beautiful garden.

Tom: That sounds nice! How many classrooms does it have?

Hoa: It has 25 classrooms. My classroom is on the second floor, next to the English room.

Tom: Does your school have a gym?

Hoa: Yes, there is a gym behind the main building. We have P.E. there twice a week.

Tom: That's great. My school doesn't have a gym, but we have a big football field.

Hoa: I'd love to see your school someday!
