11. Reading Passage
How to Go Green at Home
Going green means living in a way that protects the environment. Here are some simple ways to go green at home.
1. Reduce waste. The first step is to produce less rubbish. When you go shopping, take a reusable bag with you. Don't buy things with too much plastic packaging. If you buy less, you will create less waste.
2. Reuse things. Before throwing something away, think if you can use it again. Old jars can become containers for food. Old clothes can become cleaning rags. If you reuse things, you will save money and help the Earth.
3. Recycle. Many materials can be recycled. Paper, plastic, glass, and metal can all be recycled. If you recycle, factories will use less energy to make new products. Look for recycling bins in your neighbourhood.
4. Save energy. Turn off lights when you leave a room. Unplug chargers when you are not using them. If you save energy, you will reduce pollution from power plants.
5. Plant trees. Trees are important because they clean the air. If you plant a tree in your garden, you will help the environment for many years. Trees also give us shade and make our neighbourhood beautiful.
Remember: Every small action helps. If everyone does their part, we will have a greener world for our children.
