Describe a pie chart (150–180 words) for a fictional survey of 100 students’ preferred news source: online news sites 40%, social media 30%, television 20%, printed newspapers 10%.

The pie chart presents the preferred news sources of 100 students in a fictional classroom survey. Each student selected one option, and the results are provided for practice rather than as evidence about students in general.

Overall, online news sites were the most popular choice, while printed newspapers were the least popular. The two internet-based categories together accounted for a clear majority of responses.

Online news sites were chosen by 40% of the students. Social media followed at 30%, ten percentage points lower. Television represented one fifth of the responses, whereas printed newspapers made up the remaining 10%. The share for online news sites was therefore twice that for television and four times that for printed newspapers.

Taken together, online news sites and social media accounted for 70% of the sample. However, the chart reports preferences at a single point in time. It does not show whether any source became more popular, how often students used it or whether the information they read was accurate.
