Example 1: Describing a Festival
The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most important traditional celebrations in Vietnam. It takes place on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, usually in September or October. During this festival, children carry colorful lanterns in various shapes. Families gather to admire the full moon and share mooncakes. This festival is not only a time for celebration but also an opportunity for families to teach children about Vietnamese cultural heritage.
Example 2: Formal Letter
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to ask for some information about the cultural exchange program at your center.
First, could you please let me know when the program starts and how long it lasts? Next, I would also like to know what activities are included. Finally, would you mind telling me about the accommodation arrangements?

Example 3: Comparing Cultures
Vietnamese and Western cultures have both similarities and differences. Both cultures value family and education. However, Vietnamese culture emphasizes respect for elders and uses formal language when addressing older people. In contrast, Western culture tends to be more casual. Another difference is in dining customs. Vietnamese people often share dishes, while Westerners typically have individual portions.
Example 4: Culture Shock Experience
When I first moved to the United States for my studies, I experienced severe culture shock. Everything seemed strange and overwhelming. The language barrier made communication difficult, and I often felt confused. However, I gradually adapted by joining international student clubs and making friends. This experience taught me the importance of being open-minded.

Living in a multicultural world brings many benefits. First, it allows us to learn from different perspectives and broaden our understanding. We can explore new cuisines, languages, and traditions.
