When Bao first tried studying independently, he planned every minute of the evening. The plan looked impressive, but it left no time for unexpected tasks. After several days, he felt discouraged. His teacher suggested choosing a small number of priorities and checking progress at the end of each session. Bao began by identifying what he could already do and what he needed to practise. He kept difficult questions in a notebook and asked for help after attempting them himself. It was this review habit that made his plan more useful. He also learned that independence includes knowing when support is needed. A learner who asks a clear question can still take responsibility for the next step.
